Course Description: 

Students will begin the semester with a brief comparative study of governments, then move into an in-depth study of American government on federal, state and local level. Students study the foundation and structure of our government by reading important primary documents including the Federalist Papers and the U.S. Constitution. While studying the Bill of Rights, students learn about civil liberties and rights. Students will also cover political parties and interest groups, elections, campaigns, public policy, and key Supreme Court cases.
