Christian Persecution in the 21st Century – Spring 2021

IMPORTANT DETAILS!

This course will have a reading assignment due for the beginning of each five week segment. This means you MUST have the book in your hands at least one week before each segment begins! Students must e-mail Sherri a picture of their book at least one week before class starts! 

Sign up for segments of your choice:

Segment 1 will be held on Jan. 6,12, 18, 24, Feb. 3. We will be reading a novel. Perhaps an unusual approach in discussing true persecution of Christian believers, however this novel is based on real events that have happened to believers in China. 

Segment 2 will be held on Feb 15, 27, March, 3, 10, 17. Book TBD *

Segment 3 will be held on April 7, 14, 21, 28, May 3. Book TBD *

*Yes, I am sorry, I do not know what the other two books we will read. My hope was to focus on stories of men who have been persecuted for their faith in the 21st century, but there seem to be many more books about persecuted women in the 21st century! So Spring Semester will focus on persecuted believers in general and despite a love of reading, my reading time is limited so I am still reading and choosing!

 

You will be required to purchase the book that I announce and send me a picture of it two weeks before class.

 

*If you are looking to count this class on a transcript for entry into a secular University, it can fall into the category of Social Studies, or Cultural Studies with the title “Persecution: Women in the 21st Century: A look at how women are being persecuted around the world in modern times”
