Course Description:

Have you ever seen a black and white checkerboard with many weird pieces on it? Ever wanted to learn the movement of the pieces and the strategy of the game? Then this is the class for you! In this introductory course, students will be introduced to the world of chess. We’ll learn where it comes from, how it works, and we’ll even play games against each other! And you know what they say, kids who play chess are smart!

The first and third weeks of each month will be lessons on how to play chess.

The second and fourth weeks of each month will be chess free play.

After you sign up, please email the teacher directly which of these two schedules you will be using:

  • Only the second and fourth weeks of each month (you already know how to play and only want to play chess)
  • Every week (you want to learn and play)

*Note that on months with five weeks that we will NOT be meeting on the fifth week.*

Class will not begin until Friday, October 2nd.
