The Gift
By Emily Ciesielski
Ashes, Ashes
We will all fall down
Everyone is looking, for a way around
We are all going to die
Our very nature is the reason why
Separation, the consequence of our sin filled life
The inability to be with our Father, our biggest strife
Yet as a result of the deepest love
God sent His only son from above
He gave His life to forgive all our sin
With His sacrifice He saved all our kin
To receive this gift what must I do?
You need only believe His words are true.
My Dear, Dear Friend
By Hosanna Konsavage
I have a friend, a dear, dear friend
Much distance stands between our way
Oh, how I want to see her face
To tell her all I want to say
I read a letter from my friend
She tells me that her heart is split
Someone she loves abandoned her
She wavers now; despair has hit
The world is dark, she feels alone
Hot tears cut down her anguished face
I want to hug her, share my love
Remind her of God’s endless grace
That He will never leave her side
He carries her throughout the storm
Despite the pain, the tears, the rain
Her broken heart His hands will form
I write a letter to my friend
I want to share my heart’s deep love,
Remind her of Redemptions’ song
He’s watching out for her above
I know it hurts; I’ve been there too
But God, He has a perfect plan
The rain will leave, the sun will shine
My dear, dear friend, His deep love can
My words are carried far away
They flow on past the endless land
I pray for her, God’s hands to heal
And once again her faith to stand
Art: Interrupted
By Tatum Thorson
An artist sat sketching
Her masterpiece pending
When along came a nuisance
And, annoyed by their presence,
The artist considered withdrawing.
“Can you draw me?”
The pest asks with glee.
The artist complies,
then gives him three eyes!
And presents him as overly chubby.
You Think
By Madison Husak
You know that the stars shine,
but they don’t shine for you.
You know when the times right;
but you can’t follow through.
You know that the birds fly,
but they don’t fly for you.
You know that their better,
way better than you.
You know there’s an answer,
but no answer for you.
You know the sun will rise,
but it won’t rise for you.
You know that fireflies glow,
but they don’t glow for you.
You know I just lied,
and none of that’s true.
