THIS CLASS IS FULL
Teacher: Grace Rutherford
Suggested Age Range/Grade Range: 10-14 yrs. Old
Course Day/Time: Wednesdays, 10:00-11:00am CT
Course Description:
In How to See, we are going to learn about the people who influenced our charcoal knowledge, and practice many techniques used by them. We will learn to define the values (Light and dark) and know when some details should be left out to create a 3D image. We will learn to draw still life such as mugs, clear glass, carpet/cloth, house items, and many others! We will practice drawing charcoal art by starting with a positive canvas, and erasing the darkness to find the light and shade of our still life. By the end of the course you will be equipped with the knowledge to make your own masterpieces and have many finished products to share with your friends and family!
Required Materials:
- Large Paper (Preferably newsprint)
- Vine charcoal (Many sizes would be helpful to draw with)
- Kneaded eraser
- Art board (Or a flat chair, flat board, etc. to hold your artwork)
- Easel (Or if you can’t get one, 2 chairs facing each other, you sit on one and put your board and paper on the other to replicate an easel.)
If you have any other questions, feel free to email me! In our first class we will discuss what materials we need, how to set up the chairs, and any other questions you may have.
